4th Annual Women's Conference and Retreat

September 24th 2013

On Tuesday, September 10, 2013 forty women from throughout Baker Commodities arrived at the Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, CA for the 4th Annual Women’s Conference and Retreat.  The Conference, whose theme was "Living a Healthy Lifestyle," kicked off with dinner in the West Coast Club.  There were lots of hugs, laughs and catching up which added to the ambiance of the room.  Wednesday was down to business with a full day of Franklin Covey's "The 5 Choices."  Thursday brought Janice Dada, Registered Dietitian from So. Cal Nutrition & Wellness, who educated the group on nutrition tips for healthy living and exercise at the workplace. She finished off with a demonstration of healthy cooking and everyone had the opportunity to taste what she had created.  That afternoon participants took to the streets for a 2.5 mile Photographic Scavenger Hunt.  By the end of the day the women were exhausted both mentally and physically but had the biggest smiles.  The camaraderie developed during this conference, and over the last four years, has helped to build a strong, connected support team for Baker Commodities.

McDonalds Conference 2013

On June 25, ten Baker employees visited Boston’s historic Fenway Park for the annual Ronald McDonald House Charity night. Baker Commodities was proud to be a “Grand Slam” Sponsor and helped raise more than $55,000 for hundreds of underserved children so that they can receive medical and dental care. The event also helps families with a child in a nearby hospital find a great place to stay in a Providence or Boston Ronald McDonald House. Baker employees enjoyed a pre-game buffet with numerous McDonald franchisees and a benefit auction. After the buffet, the employees watched the Red Sox game play the Colorado Rockies and win 11-4!

Jim Andreoli, Jr. Gets Pucked

Jim Andreoli, Jr. Gets Pucked

Friday, May 10, 2013. It’s game 6 of the NHL Western Conference Quarterfinals for the Stanley Cup. The defending champion Los Angeles Kings take to the ice for their warm-up drills. Jim Andreoli, Jr. is sitting in the President’s Box intently watching his favorite player, Dustin Brown. Dustin takes a shot at the goal but instead of hitting the net it goes up and over the glass, hitting Jim in the mouth. Jim is beside himself with excitement as he stands up, blood pouring from his mouth, puck in hand, and yells to the crowd, “Yeah, Dustin!!!” Luckily Jim is ok…and he’s a very happy fan! (You can't see in the tiny photo, but Jim's got quite the bloody lip!)
