Baker Commodities would like to congratulate Freight Driver, Walter Cutress on his retirement after working for Baker for thirty years. Walter learned early how to work hard by shining shoes as a kid and then working the mills in Lowell and Lawrence, MA before doing several tours in Vietnam. After leaving the service, Walter came to work for Baker Commodities for the rest of his career. In his retirement, Walter will keep busy with a paper route and continue working with many charity groups including “Sun Santa,” raising funds for underprivileged kids in the Lowell area during Christmastime. Walter, on behalf of Baker Commodities, we thank you for your years of service with Baker and for defending our country so valiantly.

In late June, with Summer just beginning, Baker employees enjoyed their annual company outing to Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH. With temperatures in the 90’s and clear skies, 318 employees, family and friends enjoyed a barbeque, company raffle and rides all day. A good time was had by all.

Friday, May 10, 2013. It’s game 6 of the NHL Western Conference Quarterfinals for the Stanley Cup. The defending champion Los Angeles Kings take to the ice for their warm-up drills. Jim Andreoli, Jr. is sitting in the President’s Box intently watching his favorite player, Dustin Brown. Dustin takes a shot at the goal but instead of hitting the net it goes up and over the glass, hitting Jim in the mouth. Jim is beside himself with excitement as he stands up, blood pouring from his mouth, puck in hand, and yells to the crowd, “Yeah, Dustin!!!” Luckily Jim is ok…and he’s a very happy fan! (You can't see in the tiny photo, but Jim's got quite the bloody lip!)
